Ted Maish Files Election Petitions

Chandler -- Ted Maish, a southeast valley native and retired public school teacher, made his Senate candidacy official today as he filed the maximum number of signatures. Maish also qualified for Clean Elections funding today.

Maish personally collected nearly all of the 798 signatures allowed by going door-to-door in the district.

“Talking to my neighbors about what needs to be done at the Legislature has energized my campaign, and I promise to work hard on their behalf,” said Maish, who taught at area schools for three decades. “Our children’s health and education must be a top priority. I have been a strong advocate for children and public education for 30 years, so taking my work to the Legislature is the next logical step. I look forward to working with the Governor to properly support public education, affordable and quality health care reform, and working toward smart and responsible growth.”

Maish has also served on middle school and high school site-based councils.  He is past president of the Association for Career and Technical Education of Arizona and the Arizona Technology and Industrial Education Association.  He worked with children as a sponsor of Skills USA for 10 years, a student youth organization that allows students to develop relationships with business and industry.  Maish currently is serving on the Mayor’s Committee for People with Disabilities in the City of Chandler.

Maish has been married for 37 years to his wife Karen and they have one daughter Katherine, who is completing a graduate degree at the University of Arizona.  They’ll become grandparents in September. “This is yet another reminder that we must be willing to invest in our children today for a strong Arizona in the future,” Maish said.

“I always considered teaching a calling and service. Working for the citizens of Ahwatukee, South Tempe, and Chandler is another calling and service I look forward to fulfilling.”
