I'm Ted Maish and I am running for the State Senate from District 20. I'm running because as a Southeast Valley native, I have concerns about the direction that Arizona's legislature is heading. Our Governor has shown strong leadership and needs a legislature that will work with her in moving Arizona forward. I have lived Arizona's past, I recognize the challenges we face today and I look forward to planning for our state's future.

For the past two decades, the radical elements in state government have been driven by an extremist agenda that is not in the best interest of Arizona's citizens. I'm a moderate. I believe in local control. I'm a taxpayer who wants to make sure our tax dollars are being spent wisely. I am committed to put aside partisan bickering and work toward real solutions for our state.

Our greatest challenge that we face as a state is providing quality education for our children. It is not the role of the state or federal government to dictate school curriculum. As a 30-year educator, I believe that our legislature should not be telling our schools what to teach in the classroom. Our state should focus its efforts on working to attract and retain the best and brightest in the field to make curriculum decisions. Arizona's students deserve the opportunity to succeed. It's our job to provide them with the best education system in the nation.

I plan to give 100% of my time and energy to my duties in the legislature. My decision to run for State Senate was not made lightly. I understand the commitment and look forward to representing every citizen in District 20.
